When I give a gift, I love it to be thoughtful and from the heart. And homemade when where I can! I also am a sucker for other people’s artisan handiwork, or just plain-old good ideas for things to improve, simplify, or beautify our lives. And I think these things make great gifts.
I like to seek out the unique, the different, the handmade, or the-something-you-don’t-see-everyday. And of course, something that the recipient will love! Here are my favorite gift ideas for 2014! Mostly naturally-minded gifts for just about anyone (not just homesteaders or farmers!).
Gifts for the homesteader, hard to buy for, naturally-minded and fun people in your life!
Taza Chocolate Sampler Pack
This is my all time favorite chocolate. It is soooo rustic. And you know I love anything “rustic.” Often used to make hot chocolate, but I love it for an eating chocolate. It is produced in the old traditional Mexican way- stone ground and then organic cane sugar is added, nothing else! (well, except for any fun spices or flavorings). The flavors in this sample box are: cacao puro, chipotle chili, cinnamon, ginger, guajillo chili, orange, salt & pepper, and vanilla bean.
Fresh Whole Nutmeg + Grater
I am always surprised at how many people have never used fresh whole nutmeg! It is just so much better when you grate it fresh right into your recipe. Pair with a (my favorite!) zester/grater for a fun and unique gift!
Snow Shoes
Whether you live in the country or the city, you can appreciate this gift! A great way to get out and get some exercise walking on a trail or across a frozen lake (or a practical way to maneuver around your property) in the winter months.
Marble Wine Cooler
This is a great gift for any wine lover you know. We have one of these and use it almost every time we break open a bottle of wine. You keep it in the freezer until yore ready to open your wine, then you place your open bottle of wine inside of this marble cylinder on the table, and the marble keeps your wine cool throughout the evening.
For Strange Women Lip Balm Gift Set in Compostable Tubes
I discovered this etsy shop a few years ago. Yes, because I am indeed a strange woman. But really, I just love her stuff, especially this collection of lip balms- they are all natural, organic, and come in earthy unique scents you’ve never ever seen before, plus I just love the packaging!
Theracane
This this really t works great and is a perfect gift for anyone who appreciates (or maybe that person who is always asking for) a massage. Allows you to reach and work out knots in pretty much anywhere on your body, especially the back and shoulders.
Druzy Earrings from OhKuol
I just love these sparkly, natural stones… especially these dark colored ones- such a cool, deep purple grey brown. Any woman would love these! (And they come in other beautiful colors as well!
Beeswax Lotion Bar
Made with natural beeswax and other goodies- this looks like a bar of soap and comes in an adorable little tin, but it is actually lotion in bar form. Perfect for keeping in your purse- love that it won’t spill or leak! Great stocking stuffer.
Dog Bone Cookie Cutter
Make your own home-made, healthy dog treats! A cute, inexpensive gift for all the dog-lovers out there!
Cobrahead Weeder and Cultivator
Another item on my wish-list, I think this is something that every gardener would appreciate!
Instant Pot
A programmable, electronic pressure cooker. No worrying, no danger, no hovering in the kitchen. The ease of a crock-pot but the performance of a pressure cooker! Makes bone broths and tenderizes tough meats in 90 minutes. 90 minutes!! Perfect for health-nuts and busy families who value home cooking.
Orange “Blue Light Blocking” Glasses
I know you’re saying “huh?!” right now. The ultimate (and cheap!) stocking stuffer for anyone who watches TV, plays video games or uses a computer in the evening or night time. Also a great thing to try for anyone who has trouble sleeping. These glasses will block out blue light (which has been shown to affect circadian/sleeping rhythms).
Weck Jars
I am a sucker for jars; just love ’em. All of them. But especially these! I have a set of these, and love to use them to store baking ingredients and other pantry staples. They are absolutely gorgeous, and make a fun and unique gift for any jar-lover you know.
GIR Spatula
One of my favorite, favorite, all-time-absolutely-in-love-with kitchen implements. Everyone should have three of these in their kitchen! Stocking stuffer, stocking stuffer!
Le Creuset Butter Crock
Allows you to keep your butter out on the counter (where it will be a soft, spreadable consistency) but also keeps it fresh and tasting its best. Plus, it is just the cutest little thing…
Flour Sack Towels
These are so much fun… or maybe I am the only one who gets excited by kitchen towels?! I love the history behind “flour sack” towels, and these updated, bright and cheery versions will brighten up anyone’s kitchen.
DIY Vanilla Extract Kit
Great for anyone who likes to bake! Give a small bottle of Vodka with this as well- then all the recipient has to do is add the Vodka to the bottle and wait. This is an especially fun (and educational!) gift for kids who like to help in the kitchen.
Canvas, Leather and Copper Lunch Sack
Take your lunch to work in class! A little bit pricey, but a really nice gift.
Top of the Line Pepper Grinder
I can tell you that Karl owns one of these bad boys, and he says “it grinds pepper like a dream!” These pepper grinders are made in France and I think are guaranteed for life. A pretty awesome gift for any foodie!
Happy Holidays, from our homestead to yours!
