If I could suggest adding one thing to your homest If I could suggest adding one thing to your homestead, it would be Shiitake mushrooms!

✅ They grow in the shady parts of your yard where nothing else grows.

✅ Once you make them, the same logs will produce mushrooms multiple times a year for up to 8 years.

✅ They are an extremely high value item to produce!

✅ They are fantastically delicious and also easy to preserve.

We've been mushroom growers for 10 years and I have a full tutorial on how to grow them.

I’m usually drawn to old-fashioned oats because th I’m usually drawn to old-fashioned oats because they cook much more quickly, but I love the texture and mouthfeel of the steel-cut type.

Making a big batch and freezing in individual portions with @soupercubes means I can cook once and enjoy them many times!

This recipe is in my new book, Freeze Fresh Meal Prep, which is available everywhere you get books!
If you've got carrots to preserve, THIS is the way If you've got carrots to preserve, THIS is the way to do it! --> Carrot Soup starter!

I cook the carrots with onion, garlic, butter, water, and spices— then freeze them. To make soup, I thaw the bag, blend up the starter with broth, then heat (which takes all of 5 minutes!).

This recipe + 16 more veggie-forward "soup starters" are in my new book, Freeze Fresh Meal Prep. Sorry for all the teasing lately! 😊🫣🩷
The only jam I make— modern freezer jams! This is The only jam I make— modern freezer jams! This is the best jam you'll ever have: it feels crafted, not mass-produced, and the fruit is the star.

This method works with every fruit I've ever tried. In Freeze Fresh Meal Prep I give base instructions on how to craft your own jam, plus all my best jam recipes, and my favorite ways for using jam— like in overnight oats, peanut butter thumbprint cookies, and oatmeal shortbread bars.

The book is available everywhere you find books.
