This will get frozen and become Roasted Red Pepper This will get frozen and become Roasted Red Pepper Tomato Soup!!

1- chunk up veggies in big pieces
2- toss with olive oil and roast
3- shovel into freezer bag and freeze
4- thaw, blend, heat = amazing soup

Love how quick and easy this is to preserve during the busy harvest season!

So here's the story of what happened with Black & Whitey and her babies...

She turned out to be an absolutely fantastic mother, teaching these teenage chicks how to be great chickens, and being a very protective mother. 

We had a little trouble when we went to integrate them into the flock, because when they were trying to establish a pecking order, Black & Whitey wasn't having it! We had to use some creative tactics, but eventually they safely combined.

They are all still friends, but the young hens are adventurous and spry, so Black & Whitey tends to hang with the older, slower hens now. 🩷

We had the SWEETEST thing happen! Our 11 year old chicken, who has never laid an egg and who has never been broody a day in her life, adopted these baby chicks.

Chickens typically aren't welcoming to new flock members, and it's definitely unusual for a hen to adopt half grown chicks like this... but Black & Whitey (yes, that's her name) has been a doting mother since the second we introduced them. And it's been such a joy to watch.
