I love our egg basket this year! Shoutout to our b I love our egg basket this year! Shoutout to our blue egg gals— they are "Prairie Bluebell Eggers" and while they are a little flighty and not too personable, they are absolutely amazing layers!

They are very small birds but lay huge blue eggs! ...I actually can't believe the size of the egg from those small hens. And because they are small, they don't eat as much as some the heavier breeds... so a great value in terms of feed cost and egg yield.

That's not why we got them though— honestly, they were the only blue egger chicks I could find locally here last year. I'm happy to have them though! Their eggs are beautiful!

Here are the secrets: I gently bake the berries first to draw out their juices, then cook the jam hot and fast to retain the freshest strawberry flavor.

Adding in some honey and vanilla adds back in some of the floral notes of a fresh-picked berry, which gives this jam a full-bodied flavor.

It's a truly spectacular strawberry jam with both brightness and deeper jammy notes— you'll love it!
